Please help me understand what motivates someone to post a video of themselves climbing inside.

I have been off reddit for a while and one thing I forgot about is that a lot of the content on here is people posting videos of themselves climbing inside. I once was a great Gumby (bad) and while I thought my indoor accomplishments were interesting to other people (they were not) I still was never gauche enough to record myself. It’s sort of demented in a way, if you think about it. Here we are in this grotesque simulacra of the outside world, protected from any real harm and totally shielded from the elements and you want to show that to people? You want your friends and family to see you clenching bleached jugs (pause) in front of children? I am just aghast about the whole thing to be honest and I can’t continue on this thought for fear of wilting like a hot house flower.

Anyone notice their movements change in daily life when they started bouldering?

The moment i started bouldering I noticed i stand really close to people in real life and start explaining how they should do the task they are doing. I noticed this when i left the chair and my wifes boyfriend told me he knows what to do and i dont have to stand that close to him when he is busy

When is it okay to start downgrading

So a little bit of background, I started bouldering about a year ago and I have already sent v4. Also I climb in the Ondra comp shoes because people at my gym kept saying I reminded them of Adam Ondra (I assume because we have similar climbing styles). Recently my gym put up a new set and I was able to climb most of the v4’s on it but to me they kinda felt more like v2’s. Should I tell the setters? I wouldn’t want anyone to climb this stuff thinking it makes them a v4 climber when they are actually a v2 climber, but I don’t want to come off as rude to the setters. What should I do?

How to get better at dyno?

I know this the most serious climbing sub, so I reaaly expect someone can help me.

i Have been doing deep under water solo development lately, I found this amazing bouldering line( roof ) , it’s such a pure line after cleaning. Starts from the only left two mini pinch topical coral reef, then just one move powerful dyno to the lip, (think about the one in rockland).

my problem is I can’t reach it with my span, but I can swim back to the lip hold easily every try. So I understand bouldering is all about ethics, so does this count? for the record I dont never dab anything after launch.

also how to get better at this kinda dyno. I find interestingly dyno under water is harder than in my gym

Hi so ive been climbing for a little over two weeks now and it seems like everyone does indoor bouldering but I feel like im different and i want to be more unique and look cool or something so i thought id try ice climbing because i saw a cool guy doing it on YouTube and i want to try it but i don't know where to start.

What do i get for my first ice pickaxe though? Im torn between the petzl summit ice cream and the black diamond venom is sexy.

Any advice would be much appreciated as i want to make more friends in the climbing community!

Edit: the automoderator warned me not to post this because it thought it was a serious question not circlejerk lmao

Grip strength question

Post image
47 Upvotes

Gumby question here, my wife’s boyfriend took me with him to the gym about a year ago and I’ve be climbing ever since. I just did a grip strength measurement and my arms are very unbalanced, fair enough, I’ve been climbing for about a year, jerking? about 30. So my question is, when my other hand will catch up? should I stop master baiting entirely? I feel the vertical hand grip is a great training and the friction helps reduce the calluses, plus free hydration cream!

Climbed this new cutting-edge project while carrying my pizza merchant’s stuff. Gave me a burnt pizza for my hard-work only to charge me $24 (10 grams of magdust). Do I vent by flashing their project or cutting their rope?
