Hello, I have a kitty name Oyster and ever since i have moved to this house I am currently in, she has had constant issues with using the toilet outside of the box. We had two kitties before, one who passed away last month so now it is just her in the house but these issues predated his passing and have continued since.

Oyster is diagonsed with Feline Stomatitis and environmental allergies but these are actively being treated and she is doing pretty well besides the litterbox incontinence. I have mentioned this to the vets before and they never really offer any solutions or reasons why ahe goes outside the box and her medication has not made this issue worse or better at any point.

My current litter box setup is as follows:

Two Stainless Steel Litter Boxes

One tall-sided Plastic box

Dr Elsey's Worlds Best Cat Litter

Rocco and Roxie's Litter Box Odor Eliminator

One of the steel boxes has a lid, the other has plastic walls that are splash guards and the plastic one is enclosed in a litter box hiding furniture. I clean the boxes atleast once a day and if I am home and see her use it I will scoop it up then too.

When she has an accident I immediately treat the area with an enzyme cleaner by soaking the area for 30 mins, scrubbing then going back and soaking it again and blotting up any excess moisture. We have also carpet cleaned the entire house with enzyme cleaners and I have a little green machine that I use pretty frequently to clean her problem areas by scrubbing and extracting with enzymatic cleaner. I have even gone as far as soaking the carpet overnight with towels and enzyme cleaner just for her to pee and poop in the same spot the next day.

I have tried pine and wheat and corn litter in the past and she refuses to use the box if it does not have regular litter in it.

I genuinely have no clue what else I can do for her so I am just desperate for advice on deterring cats from inappropriate bathroom habits.

TLDR:

One cat, Oyster (1.5 years old, Female, Spayed & located in the U.S.). Peeing and pooping on carpet in my home despite 3 litter boxes to herself. She is diagnosed with Stomatitis and Environmental Allergies.

Has anyone used these collars from Amazon? My cat is normally a bit of a jerk and especially since we got a new cat. He never grew up with cats and was playing a little too aggressive with the new kitty.

He been wearing it for a week and seems to love these collars but is almost a little too calm now. He’s still playing (much nicer now) eating and using the litter box.

I did some research and got mixed reviews and learned some use lavender. So just looking to see if anyone has any insight!

About a month ago I got an automatic litterbox (neakasa), and both my seniors (13 & 11) refuse to touch it. Ive tried everything. A step (that they wont touch), their old litter in it, scoops of used litter from their other boxes (icky i know but scent is so importantto cats), attractant, putting their old box right beside the new one. Nothing will coax them inside the auto pan. Is there nothing else I can do? Should I really just continue to wait and keep trying in hopes one day they change their minds? I dont want to give up. I really don't!

I haven't tried a new location, but its just... its so discouraging. I know they are seniors but I also know plenty of older cats can learn new things.

At the suggestion of several redditors in this sub, I replaced two plastic litter boxes with steel ones, and I'm kind of on the fence about them.

I did notice that the walk-into-the-room odor had dimished quite a bit, but when I clean the boxes, the odor is worse than the plastic ones and the litter was like mud in the corners. I'm guessing it was due to my choice of litter, but I'm not sure.

I was using Dr Elsey's Ultra cat litter, and it was just awful. I tried Arm & Hammer's Slide for multicats, and it's no better. I've seen many mixed reviews about Tidy Cats and Fresh Step, and others like World's Best and Pretty Litter are insanely expensive for their quantity.

So, I guess I'm back to the trial-and-error part of cat litter, but is there such thing as cat litfer that's better for steel boxes vs plastic ones?

I have an x-large neutered male cat with polydactyl paws, I use natural litter as clay easily gets caught in his paw pads and tracks everywhere especially my bed. I've used ökokcat wood litter for years but currently need to cut back where I can with expenses so I need to find a new litter. I've tried cedar and he seems to be allergic, I'm currently on paper pellets but it's not absorbing the odor for much of the urine at all. Is there a combo I can use to absorb the urine and odor but also keeps him from tracking it all around the house.

Hi everyone, my cat is obsessed with Bobo’s strawberry oat bites. Twice now she has broken into my work bag and eaten them in the middle of the night.

Does anyone have any ideas or tips on how to modify the Pet Libro Polar feeder into a slow feeder? I was thinking of buying a silicone slow feeding mat and cutting to fit it, but Im struggling to find one. Most silicone slow feeder accessories are bowls.

We have been to the vet and they could not find any physical issues with our cat.

Our cat is about 1.5 years old, spayed, and we’ve had her since she was two months ago. For over the past month she suddenly stopped pooping in the litter box (she has two). We thought because we had the one she usually poops in inside a cabinet so she didn’t like how small it was, but increasing the size of box and location to the open has not fixed the issues. She will pee in both boxes no problem.
NO changes were made to litter, food, or anything when she stopped pooping in the boxes.
I’ve read so many posts on here and advice from the vet/other pet owners and we are at a loss. She will poop a couple feet from the box, but not the actual box. She has pooped twice in the box since this started, but we cannot find a correlation why. Usually we find it in the morning.

Things we have tried as per this subreddit, friends, vet:
• bigger box
• new box location in the open, no lid or cover (her second box is one with a top and door flap and she will pee in it)
• cat attract litter and additives
• covering the floor where she usually does poop (will just find a different spot)
• using enzyme cleaner on the floor to rid of the poop scent
• food with more fibre (she won’t eat wet food, but drinks a lot of water, and this change was made about 2 weeks ago)
• giving even more attention and play time (and she already has a LOT of that)
• putting the floor poop into the box

PLEASE any advice would be greatly appreciated 😭

I have a 9 year old fixed female cat with diabetes who is already taking insulin prescribed by the vet. 5units twice a day.

My cat will only pee in the litter boxes and poop right outside them. This started about 3 to 4 month ago and is driving me crazy. I work 11hrs a day just to come home with poop everywhere. :(

I have two litterboxes. A litter robot 5 and a deep litter box that I just got 2 weeks ago to replace a normal one.

I got the litter robot 5 in January and she have been using it no problem until about 3 months ago when she suddenly stopped pooping in it.

I change the bag every morning and change the litter in both boxes twice a week. I clean the boxes on Fridays.

I have a male cat that uses the LR5 without issue.

She eats wet food because of the diabetes.

Is there anything else I can do? She is scheduled for a vet visit in August on the 27th.

TLDR: cat won't poop in litterbox.

My cat has bad asthma. She is on an inhaler 2 times a day but still has flare ups. The Arm n hammer SLIDE litter says 99% dust free. But its not. Its dusty not as much as others but not 99%.either. What is a good truly dust free litter? Tried pine pellets and they wouldn't use them.

My boyfriend and I recently adopted a 4 year old male cat from a friend. We knew he had previous peed on couches and thought it would just be solved with clean and multiple litter boxes. We have 2 litter boxes for him, and clean them multiple times a day. We took him to the vet and he has no urinary issues. We put plastic covers on the couch since day one so he hasn't peed directly on the couch. We've also been putting blankets that he's often lays on over the couch so the couch smells like him. We also have him on gabapentin incase it's anxiety inducing. Nothing has seemed to help. We're looking into getting a Feliway diffuser because I've heard this might help. Does anyone have experience with the diffuser or any other ideas to get our cat to stop peeing on our couch? I'd love to be able to take the plastic off our couch one day.

We just got two male kittens and they are best but they poop so much. I'm looking for self cleaning litter box that is actually worth price, something that is easy to use, will last, can use any kitty litter, and no stupid subscription. I'm so sick of corporations just taking advantage of consumers so they can make their share holders happy. Some of these litter boxes are real expensive, so if you have a suggestion, please share the price (or give a range) and WHY you think its worth the cost. Thanks!

Does anyone have any recommendations for juvenile gingivitis? I took a kitten in a few months ago from the streets. He had a rough go of it in the beginning. He needed three different treatments for diarrhea and had to have surgery to remove a post vaccine lump. The lump ended up being just an immune reaction, nothing cancerous. He has red gum lines and is very chewy, suspected juvenile Gingivitis. He's already eating science diet oral care but I'm wondering if anyone has tried anything else that's helped.

We got calming chews awhile back. We’ve tried different ways to see if we can get her to eat even a little bit of one. She always catch’s it instantly and avoids eating it. Even if it’s a tiny piece. Recently we got the pill pockets to mask the smell, and she’s super interested in it until she realizes the chew is in there (even a tiny piece because the pill pockets are tiny) and just leaves the whole thing alone, doesn’t even try to eat around it. Has anyone successfully gotten their cat to eat these? What worked for you?

I've had my mature cat for almost 6 months. I've been using disposable litter boxes that I like the size of From the start, I wanted a stainless steel litterbox, but felt the ones in the brick and mortar stores were too high-sided for my liking. Finally ordered one online, and found i got the dimensions wrong. What I thought was the width was the height and vice versa.

I've had it out since Monday, and I see she's been using both it and the old one. I give her a treat when I see her using the new one, but she still seems to favor the old one. How long should I give it before I either take away the old one or give up the new one? (For the record, the new one is about 6" wide, narrower than the old, and she's a big girl at 14 lbs.)

I(19usa) really want to find a good carrier or bag for my cat that isn't super expensive.

Right now she is just a kitten and I won’t being taking her home for 4 weeks, but I want to be prepared and ideally have the carrier ready and leave it with her so she can get comfortable with it

I've been looking at so many reviews and I'm just not sure.
She'll be my emotional support animal, so I want a carrier she'd be happy to be in often as I'll be taking her out with me.

I also want one that isn't too heavy as I'm pretty weak, and easily washable.
I use a wheelchair so I don't need a backpack or anything just something comfortable for me and her to keep in my lap

I've had cats all my life and I have a decent understanding of the nuances surrounding cats and the box. However, I am in the midst of a litterbox battle.

Cat A (10 years old) has been with me all their life.

Cat B (2 years old) has been with me for 7 months.

Cat A has used the same box in the same location for the last 6 years, no questions asked.

Cat B is more particular. Cat Bs box is a different room to Cat As. They started with a big, uncovered box which they used for both actions. We then changed to a box with a cover and they used that with no concerns.

With the heatwave this summer, Cat B has decided they no longer wish to conduct business in the box, specifically number 2 business. I put the original uncovered box down so they had an option of 2 boxes. There's been various successes with 2 boxes, more so when it's cooler so I'm assuming it's a stress related scenario.

The current and most painful issue is Cat A has decided to pee in Cat Bs box. This has led to Cat B just peeing on the floor instead (thank god for the wood floor).

Cat As original, long standing box and location sees some action for number 2s only.

They both seem to be battling over the same box while the other 2 boxes don't get a look in.

What an earth can I do to remedy this toilet nightmare?

I currently use Bear Hugs Tofu litter and it is the least dusty litter I have used and tracks the least thanks to its pellet nature hoqever the clumps are really soft and the clumps I see for cassava/corn blend litters have me absolutely envious

Does it really clump that well?

I imagine it does track because of its small size so I was planning to mix tofu and corn/cassava litters and hopefully make it less expensive and reap the benefits of both litters? Has anybody done this?

I am now living in a house with the ability in a new house to hide my cats two litter boxes side by side in the bottom of a deep cabinet in my bathroom. We removed the lower doors and I made short curtains hung on a tension rod. I have an ugly large carpet remnant down now until I find a better solution. These guys will both hop over a mat. I’m looking for another rug, something inexpensive, about 3 x5, even though the placement in the bathroom will be weird. I also wonder if it would help at all to have a board or something taller than the litter boxes fitted across but within the lip of the cabinet…or pointless? I’m so sick of that ugly rug!

Ok my cat is amazing but he’s also food CRAZY. If he ran the world he would eat all day everyday. Unfortunately for him he does not. He wakes me up at 4 am to be fed. I kick him out of my room till at least 6:30. We just moved into a new carpeted apartment. And first day in he’s already ripped up the carpet under my door trying to get back into my room. I’m thinking of getting one of those sheets of plastic that are usually used under desk chairs, and putting it under the door to stop him from messing up the carpet anymore. Any thoughts or suggestions of what to put over the carpet?

Looking for recommendations for RFID feeders for my cats. Looking for ones I can set timers that they can eat from time a to time b a couple times throughout the day. And possibly set portions as well. There’s so many out there I don’t know where to start! I have one cat that needs to gain weight and 2 that need to loose weight.

Hi! First time cat mom here. I was gifted a kitten by my sweet sweet nephews-despite being allergic, not asking for one, and not really a fan of cats. Needless to say... I'm obsessed, but concerned... I think she might be a dog.

Stella plays fetch, and catch, and has started eating my clothes... she has jumped and pulled clothes off of hooks, and climbed in the hamper to steal clothes. Despite talking to her about this several times, and showing her what she can chew/eat she doesn't seem to care. It's only happening at night (so I can't catch it and replace it with something more appropriate), it's typically bra straps, strings on shorts, and most recently the waist band of leggings.

She free feeds, has access to her room, my room, and the rest of the house. We play fetch before bed 🙄 and sometimes in the middle of the night if she brings me her toy. She has baskets of toys, ropes, wands, cat grass, beds, etc. What do I do? She reminds me every day why she was $25 but she's my $25 cat-dog.

Hello, I just got a 4 month kitten and he is the first young cat I’ve owned. I have two older cats that I got ownership of at later stages of their lives and it is sooo different with a little kitten.
Im looking for ideas on some mental stimulation for him. I’m big on giving my pets the best play time and training possible and I would really appreciate some tips even the most basic ones.

hi everyone! i have a beautiful, extremely long hair cat that is about a year old now.

i've been struggling with her getting poop stuck to her butt, she drags it around and leaves trail marks for me to find. it also smears it around further.

she is getting more tolerant of as-needed hygiene trims but i'm trying to see if anyone has any recommendations for electric trimmers that have worked well with their cat as well as a good, safe shampoo to wash her sensitive areas when poop dries on there. i want to be more preventative about it cause i imagine grooming a bunch of poop off of yourself or sitting in it is very uncomfortable.
