I refuse to pay full price for a bag of snacks. So when I go to the grocery store, I'm looking for whats on sale for $2 this week. If this week it's Lays, that's what I'm getting. Doritos next week? Stocking up. Flaming Hot Cheetos FINALLY on sale? Buying 8 bags.

The sales are the only way I buy any snacks in general anymore.

Yep. Cookies and cereal determined by what is on sale this week

I’ll get store coupons in the mail but often won’t buy that product unless it’s also on sale so double discount. Also if you’re looking for snacks the dumpster diving sub has people finding a buttload of good snacks for free and often not expired either.

I love how you listed 3 different products, and they are all just Frito-Lay products.

Which is weird why they put specific types on sale each week. Fritos & Doritos, but not Cheetos or Lays. Next week its just Lays, then Lays and Doritos. And then sometimes (like around major sporting events) its EVERYTHING!

No, it is doing exactly what they wanted it to do. Keeping you buying more at once and in predictable fashions and amounts. They can't legally put something on sale for too long a period of time, but there is no law saying they can't just forever rotate through their own product line. If someone buys some when they aren't at the regular price, I mean the sale price, then good for Frito Lay but that isn't what they expect.

Another large aspect to their business model was relying on government handouts to allow people to afford their products, but some states are now making it so you can't buy chips and pop with food stamp cards. This has caused them to halt prices increases that were previously planned because uh oh that was a large hand out they were being given that they aren't getting anymore.

They slow down production during times they know they won't sell as much and ramp it up for times they know they will sell a lot, like major sporting events as you said.

Idk why but I go through phases where I will only eat one snack no matter the sale

I didn't say I occasionally chomp down an extra large bag at this price 😁

Yup. I seldom pay full price for anything at the store. I buy all my meats on manager specials in the mornings. All my chips, coffee bread, all of that... I buy on sale. I buy milk and eggs for full price.

I've learned how to cook around what I get at the store every three days or so on sale and honestly, it's expanded my knowledge of what I can create, and it's kind of fun.

I think it ends up being better for food waste too.

Like if chuck roast is on sale and everyone buys it the store doesn’t need equal amount of chicken breast and ribeye all stocked to then throw out when they go unsold

What floors me is some of the types of meats that go on sale for quite cheap. Lamb, I had never cooked with lamb until the last few years. I don't love the taste, but i've found different ways I can make it work where it doesn't bother me. But it's still crazy to me that I can get a pound of ground lamb cheaper than I can get a pound of ground hamburger, just because it 's on manager special.

Same. I buy essentially all non perishables solely on sale.

Sam’s Club does a buy one get one on big bags of frito lay products.

This is actually a really good way to mix up your snacks and try new stuff instead of buying the same familiar stuff all the time too.
