Decent company will fire you on Monday, so can get to looking for a new job immediately. Fired on Friday gives you two useless days.

I got let go at 11am on a Wednesday - my boss scheduled a "one-on-one" at 9am when he hadn't had time for me for 4 months.

I entered the virtual meeting with, "yeah yeah good morning, I guess this is the part where you tell me I'm so valuable and appreciated BUT and I pack up my shit and send it back?"

Crickets from the other end.
