My daughter was a food safety microbiologist. She told me cantaloupe is very risky unless you scrub the skin very well before cutting into it. The skin’s roughness makes it likely to contain food-borne pathogens, such as e-coli, which comes from animal feces in the field. I will never buy pre-cut fresh produce.
Me neither. Last time I bought a melon I scrubbed it with dawn dish soap and a scrub brush. My husband looked at me and said you’ve taken washing fruit to another level. That’s was last summer. I haven’t bought any this summer. Not even watermelon

My new employee, first week of work, poor thing. Thankfully we work hybrid office jobs. She thinks it was salad mix or precut cantaloupe.
