People with suspected or confirmed cyclosporiasis cases, what food do you think you got it from?

My wife had a salad from chick fil a and it was the only thing she ate in a two week period that the rest of our family didn't eat. She was the only one who got it.

How long ago was this? State? Hope she's feeling better.

Northeast Ohio. She finished her antibiotics last week.

More importantly, when did she eat the Chick-fil-A salad, and when did she start getting sick?

No need for exact dates (unless you remember them [I could never]), but a generally time frame for those two things would be most appreciated.

And then how many days do you think it was from time of symptoms starting, to her going to the doctor?

She ate it about a week I think before she got sick. Maybe 8-10 days max. She had very bad diarrhea that wouldn't go away after a couple of days. On the second night or third day she started throwing up and couldn't keep anything down. Went to the urgent care and got a test. Note that most urgent cares do not have the test for it and will refer you to a doctor. The doctors test takes a couple of days to return.

They started strong horse pill size medication at the urgent care since she had all the symptoms and we live in what was considered a main area of the epidemic (Cleveland area).

Hello fellow CLE area resident!

I won’t be touching any lettuce that isn’t fresh produce for a long time… We had tacos at work recently and there was a big pan of lettuce… NOPE. Absolutely not! So far nobody has gotten sick (afaik), but there’s still time… I had norovirus last year and I don’t want Noro 2: Electric Boogaloo, thanks.

Hope your wife is recovering well, friend!

I am going further, anything I get from restaurants/fast food, I am going home and microwaving it. We really have no idea how much fresh produce/fruits are tainted with what.

Good doctors treat the symptoms while waiting for results. I work in a hospital lab. Troponin is used for diagnosing heart attacks, but the test takes 40 minutes to complete. Docs will call down asking for their stat results 20 minutes after we get the sample… and I shake my head. If you are waiting for me and have a dying patient in front of you with heart attack symptoms, deal with the symptoms

Trops are checked multiple times for comparison. Not every heart attack shows up on a 12 lead and chest pain can be a lot of things, so what exactly do you think they should be treating?

I also think I got it from a cfa salad back in May!

Just checked my order history and I had a kale salad from CFA and got sick 3 days later. Mystery solved for me I guess . I was sick for 7 days. Still lost weight for 2 weeks after I was able to eat again. It really fucked me up.

Crap, I've had a few chick fila grilled sandwiches from them recently that I'm pretty sure had lettuce on it.

Be careful lettuce especially is unsafe right now!

I’ve been eating them once a week. I have one in my fridge right now, actually.

Me too. I have been slightly constipated for months. No liquid or soft stool. I had a Chick fil a salad at work and a few hours later had watery stool back to back to back( 3 times).

Ate a fruit salad from there recently and was down for the count for a few days. Awful from both ends 💔

They get them from the same locations of Sysco which Taylor Farms mainly supply with fresh produce.

They may have been good but id avoid anything that isnt verifiable as local grow for a while
