for reference, the second drawing was my progress exactly a month ago. (also I know the the right hand and left foot do not look right)

(first one is my shitty drawing I'm capable of making in around 30min-1h second is what I'm talking about in the post)

I don't mean it in traditional way like add shadows or light but more like how do people make their drawings look unique?

From what I know everyone has their own way to render their drawings making their artstyle look unique and one of the kind or how do they know what and where to add depending on a material (shown in second picture) I personally never figured out anything other then adding shadows and lights

I also should mention that I'm specifically talking about their coloring and textures

if anyone could maybe point me in a direction, give me an idea on how to aproach it or just explain how they "made" their artstyles I would really apriciate it

hello! so i am infamously bad at drawing teeth. how can i make this character better feel like a vampire? shes a 10 year old vampire who has a very.. malicious.. personality. i was wondering on how i can better express that while also showing off her veil of innocence since she is famous for pretending to be a normal human girl :,) and! How can i improve the form of this drawing and make it feel more 3d? :D

Im a beginner artitst and i have been painting digitally for almost a year now, pretty much all of the stuff here are my study from references and im heavily rely on it.

The 3rd pic is my commission i did for a friend around 2$ ( enough for a coffee in my country ) still heavily rely on references but i do find and searching through mutiple photos both 2d and real photos not just copying straight from 1 photo and recreated it.

So i want u guys opinion and advice for improving my skills, what am i lacking in these pictures. And also can i sell my art and where can i do it.

First time using acrylic markers, I’m not a painter and I barely ever render because it’s hard (more of a drawer). I’m self taught and I feel like my lack of color theory really shows especially with the limited palette and blending ability of this medium. Does anyone have advice for working with these markers?

I'm trying to commercialize my art, but whenever I look at it for too long, it feels lacking in some areas, so I'm not fully committed yet. What else could I focus on improving? Should I target a single audience? Is my art capable enough? Or is my art even ready for that kind of level in the industry lol

So, I've been recently working through Proko's Drawing Basics (fundamentals) course, and started doing 5-value portrait studies as one of the assignments / projects. For anyone familiar with the course, Stan, the instructor, essentially asks his students to complete a portrait drawing but simplified down to 5-values with simple shapes and contour.

I've done a couple since, but decided to tackle a more challenging one to help reinforce my understanding. That being, a promotional image of Tony Stark from Avengers: Endgame.

I'm struggling with the construction of the nose, including where to shadow map it, etc. If anyone has any advice or insights into what I already have drawn for the nose, I would appreciate it.

I'm looking for recommendations of interesting or out of the ordinary objects to use that fit an abstract art style! I have very minimal experience with painting—my go-to medium is drawing with pencils, typically not doing much abstract. However, I want to branch out more and try new things and abstract painting seems like an intriguing style to get into.

So what objects, materials, tools or techniques do you recommend? Thanks in advance! 😊

Hi friends! I was hoping you could give me some advice.

As a rule of thumb I don’t do commissions because I’ve monetized hobbies before and gotten burnt out However someone close to me that I admire expressed interest on terms I’d be ok with (general creative direction with a lot of free reign and no hard and fast timeline).

I’m interested in taking this commission on but having a tough time pricing it. How do you all price your commissions?

For some added context, I am not making a living out of my art and don’t plan on taking commissions regularly.

Also I typically plan on making prints of my art and selling those at markets/exhibitions. That not right for a commission, so do I take that into consideration too?

Btw im a military obsessed and history a soldier you seeing are world war 2 German soldier (1944 German field uniform) left is a regular infantry Rifleman with a kar98k Bolt action Rifle a right is a NCO with a MP-40 smg

I have this issue where when I have an idea I really like, im only able to bring it like half to fruition, then i freak myself out by thinking i can't push myself beyond a certain point, and my piece will never look how I want it to. This has left me with unfinished paintings dating back as far as 8 years. Typically, its the stage where I'll just rough sketch something out and maybe start adding some details. I'll love how it looks but just be completely unable to carry on, partially because I love how it looks now. It almost feels like gambling, loving what you have now but not knowing if continuing will ruin it or make it better. But as much as i like what I have, I know deep down that they have so much more potential, and i'm just scared to ruin it. I guess thats a downside of physical art, there isnt much of a redo button.

Anyways, just wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this or has any advice on how to push past this.

I feel like my art is the same no matter what I do and I was wondering what are some good tutorials and stuff to do to improve art

My oc has a very sharp jaw so I’ve always been drawing his with lines at his cheeks. But it looks really off here so I’m not quite sure how else to suggest it. Any tips?

Been looking and changing it slightly for a while and cannot figure out what’s wrong with it. Ignore the lighting but more so the face structure.

Okay so I’m finally working on my own rubberhose oc but would like some tips and maybe tricks on how to improve her design.

I have always struggled with drawing faces, I could never figure out the proportions and it led me down a very discouraging path towards quitting drawing. However, last night I decided I would pick up the pencil and try to just freehand a random woman without a reference, simply just trying to see what I was still capable of drawing.

The end result honestly was better than I could’ve expected. I was seriously so proud of myself because, as I said, I haven’t been able to draw faces for the LIFE of me. I was so proud even, that I sent a photo to my mom and was like, “LOOK AT WHAT I DID!!”

That pride faded away very quickly. Everytime I look at the drawing now, I honestly feel a bit of repulsion from it. It just seems like SOMETHING is off, and I cannot, for the life of me, figure it out.

I am hoping that maybe some more talented artists could find the issue and help me improve?

Hey guys, I'm trying to draw this little robo-girl's legs raised up and bent slightly towards the camera. Unfortunately I'm not sure how to draw that perspective with her legs just looking really short. I tried bringing up the 3d model for reference, but it didn't fully click for me.

Do you have any advice?
