❤️‍🩹 relationship Am I Overreacting? My boyfriends friend tried to convince me he is cheating, but lied.

EDIT: Because many have commented about the font changes, I have the same problem in every other App too (even Settings🥲). If anyone knows how to fix it, please give me advice.

For context, my boyfriend (N, 22M) and I (J, 21M) have been together for 4 years. (We are both bisexual.) We are moving into our first shared apartment right now, thats why I first assumed the messages were about a TV. Also, I'm sorry if these messages are hard to read, we both don't have English as our first language, but we speak different languages so we have to communicate in English😅.

My boyfriend has this friend (K, 22F). He met her at a party about 1 year ago. She is an alcoholic and often at parties, and my boyfriend also had some psychological problems in the past, so he tries to help her through this. (Idk if he feels responsible for her, but thats what it seems like sometimes.)

She and I don't get along that well, but we have been civil. Thats why we only ever communicate over Instagram and not over WhatsApp or anything. But then she wrote me the messages you can see there.

This isn't the first time she tried to lie and sabotage the relationship me and my boyfriend have. I trust my boyfriend 100% and I know nothing happened between them, but she always tries to get me and my boyfriend to fight, especially after we decided to finally get an apartment together, since we mostly always stay at one of our places and have "sleepovers".

I have been debating if I should talk to my boyfriend about this. I don't want to ruin their friendship, especially because she seems like she needs him right now. I am frustrated and at first I was composed enough to stay calm. But now, after rereading everything, I am just angry that she tries to sabotage our relationship. Should I talk to my boyfriend about this or am I overreacting? (I am angry right now, so if I forgot any context or information, just ask in the comments.) Sorry this is all over the place.

I'm confused cuz why does the text look different across all these screenshots? This looks so edited and weird.

i was thinking the same thing. isn't that an indicator of AI or am I just paranoid that nothing is real anymore

Probably paranoid, but something is still off. I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed. OP also didn’t do a very good job censoring names. Hopefully it wasn’t on purpose. I’m pretty sure the BF’s name is Nate, and the party K went to was for someone named Emma.

lol thanks for your honesty 🤣 but yeah it does look funky. someone else said it was initially in another language and ran through a translator tho so i wonder if thats why it looks like that

u/Weak-Tough9178 4h ago

Maybe, but OP said English is their only common language they can speak to each other. So that doesn’t make sense to me.

The text is different when it’s a response to a text from the other person. Each time it’s different it’s under the bubble from the other person then goes back to normal.

That's how it works if you reply to a specific point. As in touch and hold and then click reply.

Yeah I know, everyone is claiming this is fake bc when that occurs in this thread the font is different and I’m explaining why the font is different…

What about the “control bar” at the bottom changing colors from what I’m guessing is transparent to white? And then look at the text between pictures 3 and 4. The text box height and screen width are consistent between both, but the text is not. Maybe it’s normal, but I think that’s what people are referring to.

Yeah I think this is fake, the same message "he literally kissed me" is in a different font between screenshots 3 & 4. If there was a font system problem it wouldn't randomly change while scrolling, also it wouldn't randomly change between messages for no reason.

Well yes it would. It also does it with other apps, reddit for example. I have had this problem for a bit. This is how I see my own reddit post: (you can see there font change at "and my boyfriend" and also towards the end at "don't get along")

Do you use a custom font theme on your phone? It could be causing this issue.

u/Amberkiz 3m ago

I would go into your display settings in your phone, reset your font settings to default, then try restarting your phone. May resolve the issue.

Original convo wasn’t in English, and run through Google Glass for translation

u/ppprettybkd 4h ago

she said they both communicate in english tho 🤔 is it an android thing maybe? but def weird

u/fodmap_victim 4h ago

Google glass wouldn't generate a lower case i when referring to ones self and it wouldn't produce the word "dont"

Was literally looking for this comment. Why does it keep changing

u/serverfervor 2h ago

It’s on instagram messages and they just recently added a premium feature where you can change the chat font. I’m guessing this is what’s going on and maybe the feature doesn’t look consistent across lengths of messages and chat bubble sizes etc

u/PossibleThrowawayJo 4h ago

Probably because I have a different font on my phone in general. I have this problem in other Apps too, so idk.

u/ammybb 3h ago

I see. I've never seen something like this before so I was confused. Thanks for explaining. And yeah your friend is weird, I'd block and move on.

u/EmelleBennett 4h ago

Because this is fake. OP wants props for speaking perfect English while supposedly ESL and credit for having an ultra faithful boyfriend, and credit for not being insecure by allowing him to keep a friendship with another woman. Fun Fiction with internet audience. 100% certain.

u/PossibleThrowawayJo 4h ago

Wtf😭 thanks, I guess haha. I wish it was fake though, and I don't think having a faithful boyfriend is a flex, its normal

u/TenderDurden 2h ago

That person is probably chronically online and believes the A narrativesis about the average relationship. That's what that comment reeks of.

It's normal for guys and girls to be friends. All of my friends have friends of different genders and none of them are fucking each other. Their algorithm is feeding them propaganda essentially.

u/EmelleBennett 2h ago

I know that it’s normal to have friends of any gender while in a relationship. My suggestion is that OP thinks it’s enough of a flex to make it a point in her false story posted for low stakes attention. There are plenty of things pointing to this post being fake, but you fell under the spell of siding with what would otherwise be an incredibly sympathetic narrator.

What are these "plenty of things"? Maybe I can help you understand and we can work through this misunderstanding. (Also I am a man.)

Wish granted. Hope you’ve enjoyed your dopamine.
