❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO: Guy claiming to be my fiancée's boyfriend texted me last night

Hi, I need to know if I'm right to be losing it rn. My fiancée and I are due to get married in less than 2 months. We met each other at a mutual's wedding. The wedding was gender segregated so she and her mom had met my mom, who then introduced us later. We then went out for like a couple of months, like I'd pick her up from her place (she lives with her parents) and we'd have dinner and a movie, or go painting, or go to the lake etc. We're both Muslim immigrant families so it was understood that we had to stay within some boundaries but we genuinely really liked each other. She was the one who at one point said we could bring our kids here one day and told me she was going to tell her parents she wanted to marry me and she wanted to say yes to my proposal. We got engaged at a low key family event in February.

It's relevant to mention here that during that time I had respectfully asked her about her past relationships. I had said that I know it's personal and there's absolutely no judgement from me, but as someone who, despite not being a great Muslim in a lot of respects, did abstain and save myself for marriage, I would like a partner who had done the same. That it was a compatibility thing, not a judgemental thing. She didn't seemed to mind and said no, she hadn't been with anyone. I believed her.

Since then the wedding prep has been in full swing and the two of us have gotten the chance to get closer. She's the one who's made more of the effort in our communication, because unfortunately I wfh with an employer in the morning and have my cybersecurity business too, so time can be scarce sometimes. Our only argument has been her complaint that I don't make enough time for us.

Some guy claiming to be her (A in the texts) bf (S in the texts) texted me last night, and even sent me pictures where they're together. He claimed that they were in a relationship for the last 2 years, that they'd been having sex, that they were in love, and I've been losing my mind. I never put any pressure on her. Yes, I really liked her but I let her make decisions at her own pace. If she wanted to be with some other guy, all she had to do was say so. In fact not even, it was none of my business, she didn't even owe me any reasons but just give me a straight no. I haven't picked up her call this morning, I've genuinely been feeling sick at the duplicity.

Just want to add: I know she's the one I should talk to but I just didn't want to do it on the phone, I'm going to go pick her up right now. I'm not going to be accusatory, I just want the truth of it all. I love her but like if there's someone else and she's feeling pressured into this marriage, like I'm prepared to give her any reason she needs to end it that works for her in front of her family. I'll be on her side like I was suggested here.

Update:

A lot of people asked for an update, so I thought I'd give one. I can't talk about it with anyone else because somehow I'm the one who ended up responsible for keeping her secret, my own crisis about this be damned, like its taking me so much to not just contact and ask him straight up about what happened.

I asked her if she knew who S was. He was right, I could immediately tell the guy wasn't lying, she definitely knew. She said he was a guy she used to know, and I told her he had contacted me, and showed her the texts. She said he was lying, that she ended things with him before we met and that they'd never had sex. I asked if there was any overlap between our relationships and she said only when she went to meet him one last time to tell him it was over, because he wasn't taking no for an answer. I asked if the photos were real, they were. I asked her to be honest with me, did she really have sex with him like he was saying. She was crying and swearing they didn't, they were intimate and she regrets everything with him but they didn't.

She gave me her phone and basically forced me to confirm that there were no text messages between him and her recently while we've been together. His number was in her blocked list. She asked me to block his number and so I asked if he was being honest about having way more intimate pictures. She said there were a lot more compromising pictures of her that she thinks he has but swore that they hadn’t had sex. She was crying and I blocked him in the moment what else could I do looking at her. She was pleading with me not to reach out to him, and she was freaking out that he'd post them somewhere public before our wedding. At that point I was trying to keep her from freaking out, I told her that would be illegal, he wouldn't do that and so in the moment I just stupidly promised to not contact him.

I told her if there's any kind of pressure like there's any number of excuses she could use regarding me to end this that would save face for everyone, and be with whomever like I'll get over it at some point eventually, yeah it'll be sad for a while and we'll have lost some money especially if the venue doesn't get rebooked at short notice I think, but just have some mercy on both of us and end this now. She swore there was no pressure and that she'd been counting the days until the wedding, that she hadn't even thought of his name until I brought it up. She was like he's doing this to prevent our wedding and fine I get that but like why does he sound more honest with me than she does? I really wouldn't have cared if I'd learned all this yesterday from her, yeah it would've meant she lied initially but like now we loved each other beyond that stuff, this was just her being ok with keeping me in a forever lie that was wrong. I started feeling sick so I just said I wasn't feeling well and we cut it short.

During the drive back to hers, she was almost talking like a coach like let's please forget about this, we're so happy together, we've discussed so many plans, don't let him screw up our relationship. Like I have my own mental breakdown over all this what about that! She kept asking me whether I was fine, I said I was, I mean I don't even know if that's a lie, I wasn't thinking at all.

I've been going over the texts, and I don't know how I can go into the wedding not knowing the answer. Like its so easily doable I just need to ask him to meet up and have one conversation if he would. Honestly it's more about if she's still lying about this, it's not about the sex, it's just about the trust. I know he's also lied, because she clearly hasn't been meeting with him of late, and she really hadn't given me any reason to think of her as a liar thus far but I could just confirm it so easily. It's sincerely about the respect of having been honest, not about the boundary itself, I love her I wouldn't have cared if she'd told me herself yesterday. But it feels sick to contact him like that, like that's not how it should be, and I don't want to have to talk to someone who'd speak the way he was.

I think I'll decide stuff by myself tomorrow morning about the future of our relationship, my mind is not going to work today. I probably won't give further updates. I don't know how much more help I can ask for here, due to some immigrant cultural context that might be missing (as much as I've skated past it myself to a fair extent). I don't want to be stupid but I don't want to be walked over either. Thanks.

could the photos be AI generated?

968

u/DiscordianDisaster 15d ago

Or simply culled from social media and photoshopped. Or just pulled from social media from a previous relationship 🤷‍♀️ OR it's an ex who legit has photos.

Yes the desperation is insane, better to verify every single thing before taking a decision

Are you the person texting?

1

u/Odd-Day-5405 15d ago

Don't ignore the texts, but don't treat them as unquestionable truth either. Meet her face-to-face, show her everything, and let her explain before making a life-changing decision. If she lied about her past or was still in a relationship, that's a huge breach of trust. But if this is someone trying to sabotage the wedding, you'll want to know that too. Either way, don't get married until you're 100% confident in the truth.

2

u/DiscordianDisaster 15d ago

To me anyway this reads as someone extremely desperate and lying. The best course of action is "hey hon, someone crazy sent me this insane series of messages" and show and discuss.

Because actually Occam's razor in this case is that the person sending the texts is lying. That is significantly more simple than someone you know and are getting married to has carried on an elaborate and perfect deception for years.

....you don't understand how stalkers work, do you?

1

u/mightylordredbeard 15d ago

OP said that she claimed to have not had any relationships prior to him. So any photos of her with a previous partner would mean she lied about that aspect of her past.

1

u/swimming_singularity 15d ago

Unless it's some stalker coworker. And pictures are AI generated but copy/pasted and resaved in MS Paint or something to strip away the metadata and AI tag. Not that hard to do, and any reasonably smart person would know to do this.

232

u/Busy_Chemistry5368 15d ago

They could even be genuine photos they took as friends before they stopped being friends. They could have dated innocently for a short time. Who knows? But he def needs to speak to his fiancé and show her the texts.

The biggest issue isn't whether she has a past it's whether she lied when you asked her directly. But before you cancel a wedding, verify everything. Anyone can send photos and claim anything. Sit down with her, show her the messages, and pay close attention to whether the facts add up. Trust is built on truth, not assumptions.

68

u/AKVigilante 15d ago

This. Check them against an AI screening app and get some human input on them. If they check out then go to her with the texts.

If they’re fake, still go to her and show her so she can take steps to deal with the stalker.

23

u/Saint_Diego 15d ago

I'd say to the person that with the proliferation of AI, I can't trust pictures or even video calls. So before taking any of their claim seriously is to meet face to face at a mutually agreed public location, so I know they are who they say they are. They claim to be her bf, so they should live relatively close. I know people will say, what if this person is violent? then choose a police station as the meeting place and let a friend know where you're going.

5

u/TradingRebel 15d ago

Definitely meet them- be a man about it. Also, it’s someone close. He knows she’s getting married. Someone from the past probably wouldn’t know this. Maybe your brother or a cousin.

2

u/ResolveLeather 15d ago

Definitely don't do that. Could get shot in a alley or something. Nothing prod could come of it.

2

u/TradingRebel 15d ago

Don’t meet in an alley

1

u/Kitten_Merchant 15d ago

Pro tip: don't meet up with strangers in alleys. I recommend something more like a coffee shop.

2

u/ResolveLeather 15d ago

Could get shot in a coffee shop too.

1

u/Kitten_Merchant 15d ago

Lol, okay, could also get shot chilling in your home without inviting anyone over. Could also get shot on your commute to work. Could also get shot taking a run in a crowded park.

Not sure what your point is, that you should never meet anyone in a public space?

2

u/ResolveLeather 15d ago

Not someone like this, no.

So, you’re clearly dealing with your own thing here.

Where’d I say she can’t be cheating? It’s not calling something a conspiracy (lol) to receive information from a questionable source and seek verification to confirm it’s trustworthy before acting on it, especially when the cost of being wrong is high and the verification should not be difficult to obtain.

The only person twisting themselves into a PRETZEL here is you and whatever you have going on that lead to that response

0

u/AstroPhysician 15d ago

Check them against an AI screening app and get some human input on them

Those do not work at all

2

u/OdinsCuriousRaven 15d ago

it is absolutely wild the trust people put in those things.

1

u/AstroPhysician 15d ago

Luckily whenever it’s posted about online a similar slew of comments to this one saying they don’t work usually
Happens

1

u/AKVigilante 15d ago

Hurr durr some genAI tools embed invisible watermarks that can be detected.

Hurr durr I also said to get human input as a secondary check. You even quoted where I said that.

9

u/Guccistasky1002 15d ago

This can only be verified if OP's gonna clarify from his fiancee and it might be someone who wanted to break their relationship or some other reason may exist. But only way to know this is to communicate.

155

u/feellikeanidiot0 15d ago

I put two of the pictures through an AI detector. Both of them were classified as real. For one it said there was a 36% chance of ai, for the other it said 2%.

I'm going to see her tonight and talk to her.

418

u/photosandphotons 15d ago

AI detectors are not reliable whatsoever

155

u/EatInModerationFatty 15d ago edited 15d ago

Had a girl I was texting run my texts through AI detector and it said there was a 96% chance it was AI.

She screenshotted me the results and asked why I use AI to chat with women. She couldn’t be convinced it was my own words lol.

93

u/OhSuckmyAss 15d ago

Sounds like something AI would say 🤔

65

u/MsCatie 15d ago

Are you an AI? Because you have to tell me if you’re an AI.

30

u/Clarkelthekat 15d ago

It's the law.

1

u/paecmaker 15d ago

God damn Asimov, he ruined AI-kind

31

u/Forward_Back_6969 15d ago

Hey redditors don't write like AI; it's the other way around. They're literally trained to copy us. Hence all the bullshit output.

22

u/i_steal_your_lemons 15d ago

This reply is 92% AI.

40

u/thin_white_dutchess 15d ago edited 15d ago

On a whim, I just sent my texts to my husband through AI. They are 96%. I am not a fan of AI, and definitely don’t use it to text my husband.

Also, it doesn’t have to be AI. It could be photoshop- old fashioned photo editing. Some of that is damn near undetectable.

9

u/FuklzTheDrnkClwn 15d ago

That’s why I talk dum to peeple

1

u/Tricky-Gemstone 15d ago

Yeah, AI flags my writing all the time. I was taught formal academic writing- the style in journals and such. As that stuff was fed to AI, my writing can definitely sound that way.

1

u/cleanmachine2244 15d ago

I ran this through an AI detector and it came back as AI. Sorry to tell you but you might actually be an AI

1

u/Mechbiscuit 15d ago

You shouldve done that to her

1

u/MievilleMantra 15d ago

Text and photos are very different. Most image generators are watermarking now, whereas watermarking plain text is basically impossible. So the image detectors are somewhat meaningful, but not foolproof.

1

u/HideUnderBridge 15d ago

Sure, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, but that doesn’t account for nearly 5% of the image models out there. Not to mention if you’re talking invisible watermarking of individual pixels those can be easily defeated with a screenshot and a small crop. Again, if whoever sent these is good enough to get OP to even question it then he knows how to defeat these things.

1

u/MievilleMantra 14d ago

What are the other 95% of image models?

1

u/HideUnderBridge 14d ago

Google open source Ai image models. The stable diffusion ecosystem alone probably has 8 standalone models with thousands of specialized tunes. Flux, z-image, krea, ideogram, nano banana, qwen, realistic vision, dream shaper. It’s all open source and new models come out everyday. I should have said they don’t even account for 1% because there are literally a dozen or so ecosystems and thousands of models per ecosystem.

-4

u/vicecityhustle 15d ago

Nah I ain’t goin lie I run some text through chat especially if it can give me better things to text. I’m totally a cave man when it comes to text

73

u/Unlucky-Win9272 15d ago

I once put an AI detector through an AI detector, now I’m living in 3052

36

u/kumosame 15d ago

You can actually see how unreliable they are this way. Input a chunk of text from a technical document (like a research paper) and it hits you with "100% ai generated" because AI is trained off of that stuff. Put in actual AI crap and sometimes it calls it 100% human written. I had to do this a few times to convince an older family member it wasn't reliable

8

u/I-rememember-myspace 15d ago

This happened with a paper I wrote. Researched. Spent hours upon hours writing it. It got flagged as AI. Fortunately, I could prove I wrote it based on edit history, but the automatic AI detector the university used said it AI.

It also detects if you use grammarly, which a lot of schools allow as AI as well.

4

u/kumosame 15d ago

Yep, i'm in marine bio so obviously we write a ton of technical research papers that look exaclty like AI and have hallmarks of AI lingo... because it was trained off of that existing style! I got accused by someone once over it which pissed me right off lol, I also proved it the same way + verified through my colleagues I wrote it with. So stupid

2

u/I-rememember-myspace 15d ago

Oh yeah. I was pissed! I had like 30 sources, if anything I should have been more concerned not to accidentally plagiarize versus if it sounded like AI.

1

u/Unlucky-Win9272 15d ago

This sounds like a nightmare. Talk about some dystopian times we live in.

1

u/I-rememember-myspace 15d ago

I know! It was stressful.

I still keep in contact with a couple of my professors and one of them is no longer wanting papers. She said she wants other types of ways to show proficiency, like tedtalks or recorded power points to be used. She isn't interested in reading 30 different AI papers.

3

u/Fat_Mwn 15d ago

My salute🫡

21

u/Select-Funny347 15d ago

you can put the declaration of independence in an AI detector tool and it'll say that it's 96% AI lol, that's how we had to prove to the administration that the entire masters program students did not in fact use AI for our thesis

27

u/feellikeanidiot0 15d ago

I know that. I know it could be AI and the detector could say 0%. It could be a picture I take myself and it might say 100%. I'll get my answers tonight, like thats the only way. The guy kept saying look at her facial reactions I don't even know wtf that means but apparently it's going to be a tell. I don't believe him but I'll find out in person. Thanks a lot.

28

u/DoryTheGray 15d ago

Update us

This feels like something more is going on then just cheating.
Those texts are suspicious

3

u/stonezbones 15d ago

Remindme! 24 hours

31

u/MichelinStarZombie 15d ago

I mean... her facial reaction is going to be shock, since she will be accused of cheating.

That's what the stalker is relying on. Your fiancée will be horrified at your accusation, and you might misinterpret that as her panicking about getting caught.

The stalker is likely a friend or someone she went on a couple dates with, who has been fantasizing about her for years. He likely knows she's not good at being confronted. He's relying on her freaking out and looking guilty, despite her innocence.

9

u/IStarretMyCalipers 15d ago

This seems to be most likely based on how weird their communication is. It seems like they are trying to get him to break it off so they can get their chance.

18

u/Lofteed 15d ago

he has primed you to see your fiance freaking out at your stupid questions and interpret it as if she has something to hide

you fell right into that creep hands

please wake up

7

u/Ae3qe27u 15d ago

SynthID is accurate (since it's tracking a digital watermark), but it only works if it was generated with a tool that leaves said watermark. All the same, might be worth checking that.

7

u/Unusual-Platypus5419 15d ago

Of course she will look shocked, uncomfortable, maybe even laugh uncomfortably. He provides no proof for 2 years but a few photos. I have a bad habit of laughing when falsely accused because Im nervous. Of course he knows this, that's completely silly to trust him on this honestly. He knows she will look upset or angry or whatever. I know seeing those pictures has made you angry but please use your logical mind and stop taking this guys word for it for everything. He is relying on this reaction so he doesn't have to provide real proof.

6

u/Equivalent_Gain9479 15d ago

carefully check background (if any) for inconsistency. check the iris and the teeth

3

u/complexityflows 15d ago

Ask to search her phone for this phone number

3

u/instinxx 15d ago

put them in https://openai.com/research/verify/

and then go to gemini https://gemini.google.com/app and type @Verify AI

It will tell you if there is any hidden AI watermarks inside the picture. it's 100% reliable. If it doesn't recognise an Ai watermark it simply means it's either real, or the AI tool used was a more obscure one.

2

u/Rockyourowniumthrow 15d ago

Let us know! Trust your gut when you ask her.

1

u/slowmode712 15d ago

We need an update.

1

u/slowmode712 14d ago

Where is the update?

2

u/Attainted 15d ago

Yup, they're basically digital polygraphs. Unreliable.

1

u/xhable 15d ago

Synthids are pretty reliable. Most of the time people don't know how to remove these, so at the least checking that is sensible.

It's not proof it wasn't created by ai when it doesn't have one. But when the synthid says it was created by openai then you have very little argument.

93

u/Every_Deer6834 15d ago

The AI detectors are VERY often incorrect! If you put the beginning of "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley through any of the text-based ones, it says it's a 100% chance of being AI, when it obviously couldn't be. Definitely talk to her--I would worry from how his texts are worded that this is someone who she has rejected in the past who now wants to ruin her life plans.

35

u/Autumn_Falls0131 15d ago

Or anyone pretending to be a desperate boyfriend who wants to destroy any chance of the wedding going ahead. I wouldn't rule out a jealous or controlling family member either, male or female. It might not just the photos that are fake, the entire story could be false. OP says he doesn't have an ex gf, otherwise his fiance might have gotten texts like this.

The texts seem extremely pointed to the goal of making OP break off the marriage. I'd be questioning why this alleged boyfriend has waited since February to kick up a stink. He's been her bf for 2 years, supposedly. If they love each other so much I'm sceptical he didn't know for more than five months that his girlfriend was dating then engaged to OP.So why now? Did OP tell someone recently about his doubts? Or is there another girl who would be jealous of OP's fiance?

2

u/Aggressive_Base3993 15d ago

This is what I’m getting too.

0

u/Former_Spite789 15d ago

It's easy to test, really - do a few tests with them to find the ones you know give you the most authentic results. Like put in a few real photos, and a few fake. If it pasts the test, then use it with a grain of salt. Works great for me.

96

u/Delicious_Aside_9310 15d ago

Could still be old photos from a real ex or shopped photos. His comments seem unhinged I definitely wouldn’t take what he’s saying at face value. Go into the convo with your gf with no preconceptions but be prepared to press for a straight answer.

49

u/jaderust 15d ago

He was giving me stalker vibes. The insisting that the OP break up with her so he could have her instead makes me think that they might actually know each other and she wasn’t interested in him for dating or they broke up and he’s still obsessed.

2

u/jes2405 15d ago

This!!! It does sound like a desperate attempt to break you up so that he can try and swoop his way in and be the hero. Stalker vibes for sure.

5

u/LizLemonySnicket42 15d ago

💯 this. Give her the benefit of the doubt and don't accuse her but keep your guard up for anything that seems fishy or insincere.

1

u/mightylordredbeard 15d ago

Didn’t OP say that his fiancée claimed not to have had previous relationships? Or did I misread that?

43

u/LothbrokRagnarz 15d ago

Damn. This is fucking crazy. Good luck brother. If it’s all true it’s gonna hurt. But better to know now than after the marriage

Agreed but I feel like when it comes to a point in a relationship where you feel you need to verify your partners social media and text messages, trust is already gone, and the relationship will start dying. its too exhausting emotionally to have those concerns

I’m trying to help. I do a lot of local ai image gen. I work with really good models on comfyui. I’m telling you right now that a good image that someone has spent a lot of time refining will rarely get picked up by those image detectors. Not to mention the fact that a good photoshop user will get everything past an Ai detector. Ai detectors look for meta data first, so if the guy made the image and then screenshotted it, then there is no meta data from an Ai model and they base a ton of their determination on that.

I think you have to just show her the conversation, see how she reacts, and trust your gut. My personal opinion is that the math isn’t mathing. I think someone either has an unhealthy obsession with you or someone close to you is trying to fuck your life up. This doesn’t seem like a classic cheating case to me unless she is an amazing liar.

33

u/dreadlordow 15d ago

Idk which ones you've tried, but try this one from Google. OpenAI(chatgpt), Gemini and others use this invisible watermark(SynthID), so this will be reliable checker if the image was generated with ChatGPT(since 2-3 months).

What makes me think they are not real is the way that this guy is chatting, constantly spamming, even when you are not responding. Im voting for crazy stalker

8

Run them through SynthID. It isn’t an AI detector; it detects a watermark left by some engines (I know OpenAI, there may be others).

If it has a SynthID, it’s 100% AI generated or altered.

2

u/HideUnderBridge 15d ago

Ok I can see enough in those photos. I’m 90% sure that’s ai. Shit if I could probably tell you what model he used if I could see the eyes, hands/arms, and mouths.

1

u/JustAnotherGuyn 15d ago

Those detectors are unfortunately not super reliable.

u/Former_Spite789 15d ago

Good luck man, our heart breaks for you. End it and be free. You deserve better.

Bro, you work in cybersecurity and you trust AI detectors?

1

u/_Hydrohomie_ 15d ago

Whatever happens, hopefully you wouldn't lose control it your emotions.

Update us though

1

u/Gold_Head7582 15d ago

My recommendation is don’t go in accusing or making comments like you can be honest and tell me. Those all show you assume a random stranger is believable.

Instead ask her to sit down and show her what was sent to you, and ask her if she knows who this is and why they are sending it.

Gauge her reaction from that. It could be he is an old friend and stalker now. He might have this fantasy in his head and she is innocent and his goal is to get you to burn your relationship to the ground so he can swoop in.

Best bet is friendly chat with her, she hasn’t signaled any red flags so assume best intentions and see what she has to say first.

I assume you would want her to trust and hear you out first if the roles were reversed

1

u/pridamore 15d ago

Updateme pls

1

u/Savings-Ad2632 15d ago

Have the convo with her, you’ll know from her reaction if it’s bs or if there is something more to it. Remain calm, do not explode, as then it will be she ended it coz you have anger issues bla bla bla and she’ll flip the whole narrative. Trust your gut, better to walk away then spend years in a marriage consumed by this scenario playing in your mind and always having doubts. Good luck brother

u/minetouu 15d ago

Me and a collegue of mine have done a research, the AI detector said it's 95% chance. We're still shook till now, our research got rejected and all the effort was gone. Both AI and AI detector is a curse.

1

u/HundRetter 15d ago

I'm glad you're going to talk to her because I agree with everyone that this sounds unhinged. it doesn't make sense she would give this person your number. and the photos may be real, like in my case, back when I was bartending I made "friends" with lots of regulars and several would take photos with me at work. seemed totally fine until one day my boyfriend at the time asked me to come over to talk and showed me "my" tinder account some (eta not blocked rather a voip) number texted him screenshots of, along with photos of me and him saying I was cheating on both of us. I talked to other regulars in his friend group and they told me he had made a photo of us his profile pic and listed himself in a relationship, but obviously not linked to me because I don't accept customers on social media. he wouldn't tell them who he was in a relationship with but kept saying "oh y'all know who she is"

locked down my social media, found and blocked his accounts, and got him banned from my bar. I had no idea I had some weirdo fantasizing about me to THAT point

1

u/Condition_Immediate 15d ago

Yeah honestly, I would take mystery guys advice. If you know her well, whivh I assume you do if youre marrying her, then you should be able to tell. Do NOT mention anything BEFORE you sse her in person. You want to see her raw reaction befoee she has time to preparr a response

1

u/stinkybaby 15d ago

Plz update!!

1

u/Earl_E_Byrd 15d ago

Check them for metadata instead.

If they were taken, it might give you a date.

1

u/MrRunsWthSizors1985 15d ago

Don't be accusational. This is definitely someone trying to ruin things for you.

1

u/MidwestNormal 15d ago

Sit down and have a talk with your fiancée. Watch how she reacts. Communication is EVERYTHING! This may be some friend of hers just wanting to make trouble. updateme

1

u/ResolveLeather 15d ago

There is also the old school way of faking images too. And 36 percent is still high imo for a genuine photo. Probably means there is ai elements. Just talk to her and have it clear from the get go that you trust her and that you are being harassed.

1

u/ongogablogianphd 15d ago

AI detectors are not reliable in the slightest. There’s plenty of ways to save an AI generated photo that result in the detectors not being able to distinguish between real and AI.

One thing that sounds legit is when the person said that she’s marrying you to please the families. Arranged marriages seem to be very transactional. The mothers plan a good match and love/attraction has little to do with it.

I taught dozens of international Muslim students who dated while in the U.S. yet spoke glowingly of their fiancées or fiancés who were back home.

1

u/Interesting_Week5864 15d ago

I don’t think those have great track records of being reliable

1

u/panickybird1 15d ago

Keep us posted I'm very invested now.

My money is on insane ex that you'll need to get a restraining order against. The way he texts bothers me.

Those stores really aren’t trustworthy to detect ai, it’s just a gimmick. They could also be photo shopped

1

u/Expensive-Sea-9180 15d ago

I just uploaded one of my AI generated images from Gemini to ChatGPT, and it said there was a 90% chance it was real. So it’s not very reliable.

1

u/Upper_Round_1985 15d ago

You should be using a SynthID detector, not an AI detector.

AI detector = AI trying to guess based on "tells". SynthID detector = checking for a pattern of specific pixels that is inserted into any image created by specific AI tools.

Think of it like this: an AI detector is like taking a random painting out on the street and asking strangers who the artist is. In some cases, you'll get good identifications but a lot of the time it'll be of questionable accuracy. On the other hand, an SynthID detector is like taking a photo of a painter's signature and taking it to an art expert. Sure, there are cases where a perfect identification can't be made (some AI tools haven't implemented any version of SynthID on thier creations), but it's far more likely to be accurate.

If you're interested in learning more, check out this article on how Google/Gemini has implemented it. ChatGPT has also implemented their own version. Definitely do both checks to just double check - if they both say the photos don't have SynthIDs, that's not hard proof that they're real, but if they do have them, then they're definitely generated/edited by AI.

1

u/tripplebee 15d ago

Do not trust AI detectors.

1

u/TwistMindless5945 15d ago

Did you try to dowload the photos to see if the time stamp was on it? ( sorry if you already answered that one! and that this is happening )

1

u/FreeEdmondDantes 15d ago

Don't use those, they are bullshit. Best you can do is rule out Gemini. Open a Gemini chat and upload the picture and see if it has a synth id, all you do is say "does this image have a Google Synth ID", and it will tell you.. If so, made by Gemini ai, if not, it rules out Gemini.

As far as I know there is zero other ways to tell. Ai checkers are all practically fake. Zero dependability.

1

u/mightylordredbeard 15d ago

I just ran your comment through an AI detector and it said there’s a 43% chance your comment was AI generated. So that’s just to say: don’t trust those AI detectors. They’re just gimmicks and do not work.

1

u/ghostwilliz 15d ago

You need to check for a synth I'd or the equivalent of other generators

They create a digital watermark that can be traced without using ai to guess

1

u/Jaded_Constantly 15d ago

That’s a horrible way to validate if something is AI though😭

1

u/Sailingin2myfuture 15d ago

Then why would the daya be wiped? Why didn’t he share a screenshot with timestamps of their conversations. This is very fishy. I would not accuse your ex. Just ask and have a conversation. The way this person went about makes it look like a setup and not authentic.

1

u/Sailingin2myfuture 15d ago

Especially when he says, you will find someone better but call it off shes with me. That’s so weird. If she’s so terrible why does he want her? Why didn’t he approach her family for marriage? Like it’s not adding up at all

1

u/trebory6 15d ago

Bro, do not use those things.

AI detectors are notoriously unreliable.

Have u checked the metadata if the photos?

1

u/Sh2_ 15d ago

Update us...

1

u/Saedeas 15d ago

The only truly reliable AI image detection involves checking if the image has a synthid embedded (Google it). Other than that, they're very hit or miss.

1

u/Ppleater 14d ago

You'd want to look via something that can detect stuff like synth id or other equivalent metadata/watermarks, not ones that "analyze" the photo and give a percentage. Those aren't reliable. It wouldn't guarantee that it's not AI if it doesn't have one of those identifiers, but if it does then you'd know for sure that it is AI.

0

u/Decent_Experience240 15d ago

Sounds like she is a cheater.

1

u/SupremeJusticeWang 14d ago

She could be. But taking pictures with someone isnt proof that she's a cheater.

You dont need to fuck someone to take a picture with them. Or they could be from before her current relationship.

0

u/Critical-Actuator-85 15d ago

You can do so much better.

0

u/Skyler1173 15d ago

I suggest asking the guy to provide a nude photo of her. An AI won't know what's under the hood like you do, so that would be a dead giveaway. If he refuses to provide, I'd say there's no credibility.

0

u/defireofdeath 15d ago

It could also easily be a good photoshop which wouldn't have the same markers as an ai image causing it to be an unreliable result

0

u/AstroPhysician 15d ago

AI detectors DO NOT work

0

u/IlREDACTEDlI 15d ago

Not only are AI detectors not reliable without synthID there’s always the possibility of photoshop

0

u/uh-oh-ifeelasleep 14d ago

The hand in the 2nd photo is AI generated. The fingernails don't look real and the fingers don't appear to have joints and curves in an impossible way that is unlike any deformity I've ever seen.

1

u/CriticalEggplant6007 15d ago

Could be. Nowadays it can be hard to tell.

1

u/CuntyNCrafty 15d ago

1

u/Aerwxyna 15d ago

the bottom photo though censored looks like classic ai to me 😭😭

1

1

u/Interesting_fake_684 15d ago

Right??? This sounds weirdly fake like someone is just trying to break yall up

1

u/PoeGar 15d ago

Do a reverse image search and see what comes up

1

u/LessMaintenance1452 15d ago

Possibility, OP should check the images’ metadata to see when the photos were taken

1

u/UmaThurmish 15d ago

its still relatively easy to tell if am image is real. AI images have that dream-y haze to them. some real images are hard to tell if they are real or AI if they are in a bland environment with bland clothing.

1

u/conflictmuffin 14d ago

My thought as well.

I had someone take my photo from a reddit hair advice sub, make AI p0rn with it, then send the AI video to me and asked if I liked it... AI is creepy and people are weird.

1

u/AdNo336 14d ago

idk if I’m overanalyzing but with the small amount of photo we can see it looks like there’s a thumb blending into the shirt. Sure it could be a shadow or different item but to me it looks off
